Games Studies Weekly learning

 Week 1:

This week I have learned that game design is a combination of art and science, aiming to create interesting and interactive experiences. Its core principles include emphasizing the emotional experience of players, user-centered design, and creating a state of flow. Clarify the gameplay mechanisms, such as the main movement and card drawing, as well as the secondary resource management, etc., and the feedback loop; Use the player's initiative, environment, etc. for story narration; Control the difficulty curve, balance skills and luck, and pay attention to the player's progress. Meanwhile, the game needs to be iteratively optimized through feedback to build an immersive world, and it also has to deal with challenges such as excessive complexity, adapting to the market and balancing profits.

We also learned about the utilization of glucose in organisms through a flowchart. Although this diagram is so complex that it is hard to understand, we are going to make a game on this topic in the future, so I need to figure it out as soon as possible.
I find that I have a shallow understanding of the collaborative application of various principles, lack practical operation experience and insufficient innovative thinking. In the future, I will analyze more successful cases, participate in practical projects, broaden my exposure to games, keep up with industry trends, strive to improve my ability to apply knowledge, enhance my innovative thinking, and make up for the shortcomings in practice.

Week 2:
This week in class, we learned how to keep the game interesting while not neglecting to impart knowledge to the players of the game. And after the discussion in our group, we also had initial ideas and rules for the board game in our group.

Week 3:
This week, our group went to the coffee shop to try out the board game we made. During the play, we discovered many loopholes in the game that we didn't notice when making it. We are also actively discussing how to improve it.

Week 4:
This week, our group showed the teacher the basic gameplay and mechanisms of the board game we made. However, we found that the gameplay of this game we made was still too complex for a board game, making it difficult for us to clearly understand the rules of the game to the players of this board game. Therefore, we need to improve our game again.
